Athletics is a summer competition sports, but our Club runs training all-year-round covering track & field events – sprints (100m, 200m & 400m), distance (800m & 1500m), hurdles, relays, walk, high jump (scissor & flop), long and triple jumps, shot put, discus and javelin, along with cross-country (fitness & race techniques).
Our Club encourages all athletes to be the best that they can be and promotes good sportsmanship, inclusivity and comradery, so everyone gets to have a go and personal bests are celebrated in a fun family-friendly environment.
Our Little Athletics program is for children from 3 years to 16 years.
LA Training – Wednesdays from 4pm to 5:30pm year round (except for 2 weeks over Christmas New Years).
Club Competition – Fridays from 4pm to around 6pm from August to March (please see “My Calendar” for dates).
Our Tiny Tots program is aimed at children who are 3 turning 4 and 5 years of age and is run during our Clubs’ Competition nights. This game-based program is designed to develop skills required for future years participating in athletic events.
It has been noted by Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ) that the majority of children who join athletics, have fun, make new friends and learn new skills and techniques from dedicated coaching staff who offer individual guidance during all training and competition sessions.
Young elite athletes are offered extra opportunities in our Club’s Squad Team to fine-tune their techniques. We also hold Track & Field clinics at various time of the year.

The Hervey Bay Athletics Club is the home of Little Athletics in the Hervey Bay area and has been operating for close to 40 years.
